so the second week of the new semester had added. alot of things happened for the past couple of weeks. probably one that i'll always remember.

i finally got my driving licence. passed with 8 points only. pretty good. i guess i was lucky to get a good tester who's very helpful and friendly. drove very lil until today, when i took over the wheel and drove my family to toapayoh and east coast park in the evening.

my dad was diagnosed with liver cancer just a few days after i got my licence. it was a huge shock for the family. everybody was sad. my dad was badly affected emotionally. the thing is that he has been going for regular liver checkup for 5-6 years already, like every 3 months for blood test and liver function test. so when he went for his checkup recently, he was diagnosed with a tumor growth on his liver. he was admitted a day later and had a liver op the next day. one will never really understand that kind of situation until you experienced it. my whole family tried to keep it as discreet as possible through the whole week of op and rehab. my dad is now resting at home and going for traditional chinese medicine to make sure that bugger doesnt come back.

that makes me realise something: one day, my parents are gonna leave me. death. is such a scary thing. maybe day in day out, we are busy with our own stuff. im busy with cycling and studies, and friends. somehow i've neglected my parents. one day they will just leave me.

it's just an inevitable fact.

we never really cherish those around us until we loses them, dont we?

i hope he be fine.

i did pretty well over the inpromptu nat team itt. was supposingly to be a hilly loop around seralang camp over at changi, but due to the wet weather, it was changed to changi coastal for safety reasons. everyone was using their climbing setups with lightweight wheels and big cassette gearings etc, so nobody had an aerodynamic advantage. i felt good that day and did a avg 39kph for 12.2km. ranked 5 out of the 11 who turned up, including of some junior riders, which was quite good for me.

next january i'll be leaving for tour of siam (www.tourofsiam.com) on from 10th to 22nd. it's gonna be my first big race of my cycling carreer. all the pro teams and national will be there. so no crap. i really hope i can handle it. cause a time limit of more than 10% of the winner on every stage will get you out of the whole race. so if you come in at 4:24:01 with the winner's time at 4:00, you're out. that's harsh. but that's what professional racing is about. so hopefully i can do some hills work in and just hang on to the race as long as possible, each stage each day at a time.

im just so excited.

today is a sad day for singapore cycling. i sort of witness one of the worst accident i ever had since i started the sport. today while i was working infront of the peloton down one of the climb in neotiew, turning left into lck, one bus cut into our lane and coming towards in the opposite direction, trying to overtake road works on his lane. the bus came close and i managed to swerve to the extreme left in order to prevent being hit. the next thing i know, there was a big crash behind me.

when i turned back, i saw some of the riders went down. there must have been 40-60 riders behind me, so i just went ahead as they should have enough help. on the way out of lck to cck, an ambulance came by the opposite direction, and that doesnt look good. upon reaching newton hakwer centre, we began to get infomation of the crash from riders coming in.

the crash was pretty bad. from what i heard, one rider fell and went under the bus. his leg was broken and in an awful shape, squashed helmet and had only a 50-50 chance survival. that made all of us realise that it could have been anyone one of us. upon reaching home i recieved a call from patrick, and he relayed that the rider broke is leg and spine, 30% chance, but also probably become paralysed if he survived. but i've yet to recieve any confirmed information. i will really pray that he's alright. really. please.

also heard there was another crash on their way back. one of the uncle whom i was familiar of. another ambulance call. but i guess it was not as serious as the previous one. i seriously hope both of them are alright.

today when i joined the ride along pierce reservior (we couldnt make it to the start due to the slow extra loop in the morning), the pack was one of the biggest ever, with even some riders from the malaysia and indonesia national team, probably in sg for their sponsors. lots of jockeying around, i didnt felt comfortable. trying hard to catch the breakaway which i missed probably due to my late start, the chase wasnt organised, some riders in the pack was unsteady etc. and i even discussed with one of the riders during the extra loop that the sunday thomson ride is getting dangerous, and we are putting our lives on the gambling table for that extra kick. and bad things really happened.

let's hope everybody be fine. ride safe. i dont feel like typing anymore.

thanks for reading.
